Built one at a time in my shop, the Heritage Series Small Framed Flag begins with a solid wood flag measuring approximately 9.75” tall x 18.5” wide and 1.5” deep. The finished flag is surrounded by a custom built solid wood frame approximately 1.5” wide, adding depth and a refined presentation without talking away from the character of the carving. Its smaller scale makes it an ideal focal point for a home, office, entryway, or other space where a larger flag may be too dominant.
Each stripe and star is individually carved to capture the natural movement of an American flag in the wind. After carving, the wood is burned and brushed to emphasize the grain and texture before receiving its weathered finish. The flag is then set within its handcrafted frame, creating separation and shadow that further accentuated the contours of the carving.
Because every flag and frame is built, carved, and finished individually, variations in wood grain, carving, and finish ensure that two pieces will ever be exactly the alike.
