Built one at a time in my shop, the Liberty Series takes the movement and character of the Heritage Series flags to a more substantial scale. At approximately 19” tall x 37” wide and 3 inches thick, the additional depth allows for deeper, more dramatic carving throughout the flag, creating pronounced peaks, valleys, shadows, and contours that change as you move around the piece. The result is a commanding wall piece designed to draw attention from across the room while revealing even more detail up close.
Each stripe and star is individually carved by hand to capture the natural movement of an American flag in the wind. The greater material depth gives me more freedom to shape each wave, creating a sculpted quality that distinguishes the Liberty Series from the thinner Heritage Series. After carving. the wood is burned and brushd to emphasize its grain and texture before receiving a weathered finish that complements the movement of the piece.
Because every Liberty flag is individually carved and finished, the contours, grain patterns, texture, and finish naturally vary. No two flags will ever be exactly alike.
